This jar celebrates the ancient symbol of Florence the “Giaggiolo“ or “Giglio“. A giaggiolo differs from the French fleur-de-lis as it has stamens interposed between the petals, and is actually a stylized iris which grows wild in the Tuscan countryside. A giaggiolo is traditionally shown in red after the Guelph 1266 victory over the Ghibellines.
Beautifully hand painted and hand formed on a potter’s wheel. The Il Fliorentine is from the Tuscan village of Montelupo Florentino, famous all over Italy for the beauty of their pottery. It is filled to capacity with an assortment of our individually-wrapped biscotti, almond macaroons and chocolate-covered biscotti. A must have for all lovers of Firenze!
